Forty-one young anglers and their adults braved a less-than-optimum forecast to dip a hook on June 7.

Division Trophy Winners.
The division trophy winners of the Shoals Youth Bassmasters brought in 77.92 lbs. of bass in their first June tournament on Pickwick Lake. This was the second event of the 2025 season.
Club Director Richard Laxson noted that the night before the tournament had storms in the area. Tournament day opened with overcast skies and a forecast of additional storms and rain. As luck would have it, the predicted rain did not return until about 20 minutes after weigh-in at 11 AM.
Laxson said, “The fishing was good and the Pickwick smallmouth were active.”

Scarlet Zahnd got the first-place trophy in her 10 and Under Division with 14.11 pounds of bass, including the big fish of the tournament, a 5.20 lb. smallmouth. First place in the 11 to 15 Age Division took 8.36 lbs. brought in by Levi Hicks. The two contestants in the 16 to 18 Age Division fought it out, with Cam Andrews coming out on top with 3.92 lbs., beating fellow angler Jake Boyd, who had 3.50 lbs. of bass.
