The Shoals Youth Bassmasters motored out onto Wilson Lake from the confines of Safety Harbor on August 29 for their fifth tournament of the year. The young contestants began casting and boating bass in what could be described this time of year as pleasant, with the trophy winners boating 57.4 lbs. of bass.

By the 11 AM weigh-in, the heat and humidity had moved in, as they have during most of the club’s events this year, according to the organization’s director, Richard Laxson.
The trophy winners got busy right away with Jemma Clifton boating a first-place weight of 8.56 lbs. of bass in the 10 and Under Age Division. Right behind her in the 11 to 15 Age Division, Myles Roberson had 8.19 lbs. for the first-place trophy. Wyatt Lancaster had the 16 to 18 Age Division all to himself, claiming first place with 2.63 lbs. Turner Sykes, fishing in the 10 and Under Age Division, turned heads with the 4.63 lb. smallie he brought to the scales for tournament lunker.
