Are the fish you are catching toxic?

The 2021 Alabama Fish Consumption Advisory has been published. The advisory lists specific locations where the fish have been exposed to toxic substances such as mercury, PCBs, and PFOS.

The chemical levels in those fish may pose a health risk if any, or too many, are consumed. The data for the advisory was collected and evaluated by ADPH, the Alabama Department of Environmental Management, the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and TVA.

The safest action to take is “Catch and Release” if in doubt.

The complete Advisory PDF can be viewed and/or downloaded from al-fish-advisory-2021.
