The Shoals Youth Bassmasters fished Pickwick Lake on June 19th. The famed smallmouth bass impoundment was stingy on the brown fish with the green largemouth dominating in the livewells of the youth contenders.
A calm, overcast morning greeted forty-one young anglers as they took to the waters of Pickwick Lake from McFarland Ramp.
Winds picked up at around 10 to 10:30, just before the 11:00 weigh-in. Rain and storms coming in from the southwest held off giving the club a dry weigh-in. Most every young angler had one fish or more to weigh in. Trophies are awarded to the top four weights in each division based on the number fishing in each age group.
Little Kase Goodwin took the first place trophy with Hadley Brewer coming in a close second. Goodwin and Brewer tied for the biggest bass trophy each bringing in a four-pound, ten-ounce green fish. In the 11 to 15 age division Parker Posey got the shiny first place and Sam Hanback was close on his heels for second. The older 16 to 18-year-old division had two trophy places with Hunter Inabnitt squeezing into the first place position.
The trophy winners in each division had a total of 49.625 pounds in the 10 and Under group; 45.1875 pounds with the 11 to 15 age group; and the 16 to 18 anglers had a total of 5.625 pounds.
