Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Results For The Pickwick/Wilson Lakes At Sheffield, Alabama

This past Saturday, March 28th, 2015, the Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail hit the waters of the Pickwick/Wilson Lakes at Sheffield, Alabama. In the event over 60 top anglers from 10 different states were competing not only for the cash and prizes, but the opportunity to qualify for the 2015 Cabela’s King Kat East and West Championship. This year’s West Championship will be held September 25th & 26st, 2015 at the Cumberland River, (Old Hickory Lake), Gallatin, Tennessee. The East Championship will be held October 2nd & 3rd, 2015 at Lake Wateree, Camden, South Carolina. Be sure to check out our website at: www.kingkatusa.com. Results for the Top 5 Teams

Taking first place was the team of Bruce Faulk of Michie, Tennessee and Brian Vohol of Hermitage, Tennessee with an outstanding weight of 161.82 pounds and earning $3,000.00. Bruce and Brian the 2009 King Kat Classic Champions were fishing Wilson Lake anchored in 12 feet of water using skipjack to catch a total of 9 fish. The team had a kicker fish weighing 60.94 pounds.

In second place was the team of Sammy Mitchell of Russellville, Alabama and Mike Mitchell of Grant, Alabama with a weight of 152.08 pounds and earning $1,200. Sammy and Mike fished Wilson Lake anchored down in 25 feet of water using skipjack to catch only 7 fish for the day. The team also had 2nd Big Fish of the event with a 66.32 pounder. The team caught all their fish early and caught their biggest fish at 11a.m. The team had brought in a 86 pounder in the 2014 event here.

Third place went to Nick Dimino of Starkville, Mississippi and Adam Long of Amory, Mississippi weighing in 151.86 pound and earning $500.00. Nick and Adam were fishing  Wilson Lake as well in 70 feet of water Spot Locking. (Controlled drifting with trolling motor) using skipjack to land a total of 10 fish for the day. The teams 2 biggest fish both weighed over 50 pound. What a day of fishing!King-Kat-logo

George Young Jr of Brookland, Arkansas and Ben Goebel of Mt. Vernon, Indiana took fourth place with a weight of 125.94 pounds and earning $300.00. George and Ben fished on Pickwick Lake around riverfront park drifting in 17 feet of water using skipjack and targeting ledges to land a total of 20 fish. The team had to throw back 6 fish over 34 inches long which was very hard for them to do.

Fifth place went to Cody Mullennix of Sadler, Texas and Will Carter of Lavon, Texas weighed in 119.34 pounds. Cody and Will were also fishing  Wilson Lake in 25-30 feet of water anchoring down and using skipjack to land a total of 7 fish for the day. The team had to cull 1 fish over 34 inches long.

In 7th place and capturing Big Fish of the event was Daniel Lux of Bedford, Indiana and Robert Douglas of Loogootee, Indiana earning  $600 for their 68.52 pound big fish with a total weight of  114.36 pounds. The team fished Wilson Lake using Skipjack and Shad, in 12-15 feet of water. The team had 10 fish and caught  big fish of the event off of shad guts in the first 10 minutes of the event.

Thanks to Sheffield Park & Recreation for allowing to use Riverfront Park and providing UTV’s to get fish back to the water. ” We saw several teams with more than 1 fish weighing over 50 pounds.
