The Heartland Anglers fished Pickwick March 24 under cloudy skies. Thirty-three boats fished the event, one of the tournament trail’s stops. The top six places weighed a combined total of 138.45 pounds. The big largemouth was a tie with two 5.95 pounders and the top smallmouth went 6.17 pounds.
Pickwick continued to produce a lot of big fish as has been the case for several weeks now. If you had less than twenty pounds you were out of the top six.
Trent and Johnny Suratt wrapped-up first place with a heavy limit going 27.90 pounds. The second place weight was a tie between the team of Andrew Hamilton and Kyle Prestage with a bag going 23.92 pounds and Wayne Dennison and Jeff Stern with a matching weight.
Fourth place (no third place with the tie for second) in the heavyweight slugfest went to Tommy White and Brian Dodd with 21.05 pounds. Another good weight showing. Nailing down fifth with 20.94 pounds were Kaisle Lawson and Jonathon Nixon with 20.94 pounds Sixth place went to Leon Tidwell Jr and Trey Tidwell. This duo put 20.72 pounds in the livewell.
Another tie was for big largemouth. The Suratt’s and Eric Smith and Caleb Swain both brought in a nice 5.95 pounder.
The second place team of Hamilton and Prestage also took big smallie honors with an awesome 6.17 pound brown fish.
