The wet weather right before the Willow Fly hatch this year has dramatically increased the hatch of the Willow Fly on areas of Wilson Lake.
In the photo below, the brown/tan areas on the water are “slicks” of dead Willow Flies. Never have seen so many in a hatch! Got to be millions of the little insects that attach to anything not moving or moving slowly. Birds and fish are having trouble picking off meals from the swarm. There are so many which one do you eat!
