Lew’s and Strike King New Product Showcase

Lew’s and Strike King have unveiled new products for 2020. The new product showcase includes the Lew’s Custom Lite SLP reel, Lew’s Inshore Speed Stick’s, Mach 2 rods, the Lew’s Mach Smash Combo, Mach Hatchpack, and HyperSpeed Bearing Lubricant. Strike King’s 2020 showcase boasts a number of new offerings as well. Included is the KVD 2.5 Wake Bait, Rage Ned Bug, a Tour Grade Ned Rig Head, Tour Grade Line, and the new S11 Clinch Sunglasses.

Custom Lite SLP reel

When it comes to productivity on the water, ounces make all the difference in not just the weigh-in scales, but also in the weight of your reel and fatigue that comes from it. Weighing in at just 4.9 ounces, the new Custom Lite SLP baitcast reel is the lightest reel ever produced by Lew’s. This means less fatigue, which equals more time on the water and more casts.

In this case, “Lite” does not mean “watered down” or cheap. The Custom Lite SLP features a “TansoTech” carbon fiber frame and a titanium, aircraft-grade Duralumin 30mm spool picking up 28” of line per handle turn. On the engineering side, this piece of equipment features an 11-bearing system with Lews’ P2 Super Pinion, which provides better gear mesh for smoother cranking, longer casts, and extended gear life. Matched with the externally adjustable 6-pin, 27-position QuietCast Adjustable Centrifugal Braking (ACB) system, the Custom Lite SLP is dialed in for precise adjustment, long casts and tight quarters accuracy.

Inshore Speed Sticks

Two new design innovations in fishing rod reel seat technology from Lew’s is the G Clutch (TM) reel seat for casting rods and the Lew’s patent-pending CT-1 ComfortTouch (TM) grip with extended front foregrip for leverage while fighting fish for spinning rods.

G Clutch reel seats with Midas Touch (TM) provide direct contact with the blank for direct sensitivity at all times and also put the reel closer to the blank for a more compact profile and better balance. The new ComfortTouch grip for spinning rods is teamed with Winn® Dri-Tac palming material for extreme comfort and front foregrip for leverage and control while fighting fish.

With premium HM40 graphite blanks, rugged stainless-steel guides with aluminum oxide inserts and beautiful blue swirl Winn Dri-Tac split-grip handles, the new Lew’s Inshore Speed Sticks rods don’t skimp on features and each of the 5 casting and 6 spinning models are torture tested and big fish proven.

Mach 2 Rods

Lew’s has unveiled two new design innovations in fishing rod reel seat technology – the G ClutchTM reel seat for casting rods and the Lew’s exclusive BARE Reel Seat (TM) for spinning rods. Mach Smash Baitcast Combo

Since Lew’s changed the game several years ago in the rod and reel combo market with the Mach series, each year we’ve seen the line expand in ways the fishing market never thought possible for a combo. Lew’s has unveiled the new Mach Smash Combo which could possibly be the most affordable, feature-packed combo ever seen.

Boasting an eye-catching, notice-it-from-across-the-room red color, the Mach Smash Combo is a rod and reel that is ready for duty. The Mach Smash SLP Baitcast Reel features a one-piece lightweight graphite frame with 3 drain ports, high strength solid brass Speed Gears, 8 bearings a 32mm spool and a 95mm handle with Lew’s Combat Grip™ paddle knobs for full control. This is no run of the mill reel, this is the Mach Smash.

The stick included in this combo is no slouch either – the Mach Smash Rod features a new thinner diameter blank, which decreases weight and bulk. Premium IM6 high modulus graphite blank, Lew’s exclusive skeletal reel seat, Winn® Dri-Tac™ grip with EVA butt section make this rod both sensitive and comfortable to fish.

The Combo is offered in both left and right-handed versions of 6’10” MH, 7.5:1 gear ratio.

Mach Hatchpack

Whether it’s bank fishing, backpacking or fishing out of the back of a pro’s boat in a tournament, tackle storage and transportation has been a challenge since the beginning. Since the team at Lew’s spends as much of their free time on the water as possible, they know the struggles and inconveniences that show themselves anytime the “fitting 5lbs into a 10lb bag” situation shows itself when it’s time to pack

up the gear (which is virtually every time). So, to provide a solution to this, the engineers at Lew’s designed the new Mach Hatchpack – the most thought out, precision designed tackle bag today’s fishermen have ever put their pliers inside.

Structurally, this pack features durable 600D polyester with Honeycomb ripstop panels with EVA wall construction. A rubberized, textured base keeps this pack stable on the boat deck or a creekside boulder. 7 compartments and 5 rubber mesh pouches provide ample storage opportunities tools and baits, with the large main compartment holding up to 5 – 3700 style tackle boxes (includes one 13.75” x 8.75” x 2” utility box). The front side of the bag touts a pliers holder, as well as a “juice pouch” for Speed Cleanz line spray, sunscreen, etc. To boot, a sturdy sunglasses case is directly on the front side of the pack for easy access at all times.

As an added convenience feature, a line spooling grommet is included on one side compartment to make spooling up simple and easy when on the run. Adjustable padded shoulder straps and sternum strap keep things comfortable and secure when moving from point A to point B.

HyperSpeed Reel Bearing Lubricant

Lew’s and Lucas Oil have introduced the new HyperSpeed Speed Lube. As a high-speed reel bearing lubricant, each bottle contains 1oz of custom formulated synthetic base oils that are formulated specifically for today’s high-performance baitcast reels. Utilizing the lubrication and oil sourcing expertise from the folks at Lucas Oil, this reel oil allows the maximum performance of baitcast spool main shaft bearings through a low coefficient of friction with superior flow and lubricity.

Like other reel oils, HyperSpeed is long-lasting and oxidation resistant and will not form residual lacquers or gums. HyperSpeed is designed to not only maintain bearing life in baitcast reels but also increase performance.

KVD 2.5 Wake Bait

The KVD 2.5 Wake Bait is built off of the very popular KVD 2.5 Squarebill design that anglers love.

The difference is the unique bill design that is angled so the bait wakes the surface of the water instead of diving. The 2.5 Wake is designed where it can be reeled both fast and slow speeds and will not blow out – an issue that is common in other wake bait designs. Being able to reel it fast allows the fish to not get a good look at the bait, enticing more strikes. Additionally, internal rattles create a unique clacking sound.

Rage Ned Bug

Tour Grade Line

Made from the highest quality Japanese fiber, Strike King Tour Grade Line is optimized for maximum fishability. When you have a line that incorporates every attribute, the result is quite simply the most highly optimized fishing

line available today. Strike King incorporates P2 Precision winding onto each spool of Tour Grade Line. The line goes onto the spool perfectly, so it will come off the reel perfectly.

As an added feature in convenience and innovation, every spool will contain Strike King’s “Sidewinder” spooling tool and postage paid envelop so anglers can recycle their old line. Conservation is as important to the folks at Strike King as it is to other anglers, and that is apparent in Tour Grade Line.

The new Tour Grade Line will be offered in Fluorocarbon, Braid, and Monofilament as well. Fluoro and Mono will come in both 200 and 600-yard spools in pound tests ranging from 6 lb. to 25 lb clear. Braid will come in green and hi-viz yellow in 150-yard spools and 600-yard spools in pound tests ranging from 8 lb. to 80 lb.
