Decatur, Ala. (April 22, 2015) – First responders, active military personnel, police officers, firefighters, reservists, members of the National Guard, and anyone who has served in any of the US Armed Forces are invited to participate in the sixth annual Homeland Security Bass Fishing Tournament set for May 15-16, 2015, at Ingalls Harbor in Decatur. The no-entry fee tournament is limited to 300 boats and offers a guaranteed $1,000 first place prize.
On Friday, May 15th, the Big Bass Tournament takes place from 1 until 5 p.m. with a big bass winner each hour. Anglers can weigh in one fish per person each hour. Contestants must sign in at the launch site prior to 1 p.m.
On Saturday, May 16th, up to 300 two-man teams are expected to compete for the $1000 first place cash prize, additional places, and draw prizes. Participants may choose to compete one day or both days.
Ingalls Harbor, located at 802 Wilson Street NW in Decatur, will host the take-off and weigh-in. Check-in begins at 4 a.m. on Saturday and weigh-in will be held between 2 and 3 p.m. Food and beverages will be served to participants after the conclusion of each day’s event.
Held exclusively for personnel that fall under the category of Homeland Security, the no-entry fee tournament is sponsored by The Boathouse, Serra Toyota of Decatur, Wendy’s, American Bass Anglers, Pepsi Cola Bottling of Decatur, Triton Boats, Rocket Harley-Davidson, GEICO Local Office, WDRM 102.1, Poarch Band of Creek Indians of Atmore, and Lawler’s Barbeque.
