The Fayette County Public Fishing Lake will reopen on Thursday, March 28, 2019, after the completion of a renovation and restocking project by the Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries (WFF) that began in 2016. The 60-acre lake is located at 529 County Road 134 in Fayette, Ala.

During the renovation, the lake was drained and restocked with Florida largemouth bass, bluegill sunfish, redear sunfish and channel catfish. In addition, golden shiners and threadfin shad were stocked as forage to enhance largemouth bass growth.

This award program recognizes those who catch fish that meet or exceed a specific weight or length for that particular species. This year, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division (WRD) will introduce three new additional award categories recognizing even more angler catches!

February 1 marks the beginning of the fishing season for 21 of Alabama’s 23 State-owned Public Fishing Lakes. Located throughout the state, these lakes are noted for their quality fishing for bream, largemouth bass, channel catfish, and crappie (in most lakes). Because these smaller lakes warm more quickly than larger bodies of water, early spring fishing can be excellent.

Big Wheeler Lake blue cats are sure to be plentiful.

Catfish anglers from several states will travel to Wheeler Lake at Decatur, AL for a King Kat Tournament Trail event presented by Bass Pro Shops Cabela’s. Local and traveling anglers will be vying for cash, prizes, and an opportunity to compete at the 2019 King Kat Classic which will feature a guaranteed payout of $120,000 in cash and prizes.

I  stumbled across a documentary on Netflix, “The Devil We Knew”. The movie begins with the advent of C8 (the chemical used to make Teflon and hundreds of other products) in West Virginia. The effects of C8 on humans and animals is astounding, to say the least.
