Shoals Youth Bassmasters compete on North Alabama’s Wilson Lake

The Shoals Youth Bassmasters youth anglers, fishing the next to last club tournament of the 2019 season, went head-to-head in the three age divisions on Wilson Lake out of the Lock Six ramp on August 31, 2019.

The fishing temperature was cool at 7 AM but ended hot by the 11 AM weigh-in time for the fifty-four youth competing. Club director Richard Laxson noted that most of the youth anglers caught fish in the tournament.

Several impressive bass were brought to the scales by club members. Case MaMahan had 4-8 largemouth, Tyler Smith caught a 3-14 Smallmouth and Hunter Inabnitt boated a 3-13 smallmouth. Case McMahan’s 4 lb. 8 oz. largemouth took the big fish trophy for the event.

The 10 and Under group of trophy winners had a total of 33.81 pounds of bass for the tournament. Next, the 11 to 15-year-old members weighed-in 25.25 pounds. The two 16 to 18-year-old division fishermen scored 13.25 pounds. The total weight of the age divisions place winners totaled 72.31 pounds. The total catch for the entire club would have easily gone over a hundred pounds of largemouth and smallmouth from Wilson Lake in a four-hour tournament.
