Shoals Youth Bassmasters Compete on Wheeler Lake

The Shoals Youth Bassmasters first tournament of the 2024 season is in the books. The trophy winners brought in 71.44 pounds of bass to the scales.

Richard Laxson, director of the Shoals Youth Bassmasters reported the weather for the tournament, on Wheeler Lake out of First Creek, was a slight overcast sky, a little cool and the lake had a chop that was of no concern.

Laxson said forty-six youth anglers competed in the Wheeler event and the fishing was good. “Levi Hicks brought in 14,45 pounds and bass and Conner Kyle boated 13.94 pounds. Hicks won first place in the Eleven to Fifteen-Year-Old Division and Kyle placed a close second.”.

i Kane Goodwin took first n the Ten and Under age division for his 6.68 total weight. As noted earlier, Levi Hicks won the Eleven to Fifteen Age Divison with his big bag weighing 14.45. First place in the Sixteen to Eighteen-Year-Old Division was won by Jake Boyd for his 5,53 pounds of bass. Levi Hicks also caught the biggest bass of the tournament which weighed 3.85 pounds.

The trophy winners in all age divisions were:

10 and Under Age:
Wheeler Total Division Weight 20.28 lbs.
1st Place: Kane Goodwin 6.68 lbs.
2nd Place: Bo Hemmen 6.34 lbs.
3rd Place: Cayden James 4.08 lbs.
4th Place: Graham Walker 3.18 lbs.

11-15 Age:
Wheeler Total Division Weight 43.82 lbs.
1st Place: Levi Hicks 14.45 lbs.
2nd Place: Conner Kyle 13.94 lbs.
3rd Place: Cam Andrews 10.74 lbs.
4th Place: Tadd Burroughs 4.69 lbs.

16-18 Age:
Wheeler Total Division Weight 10.52 lbs.
1st Place: Jake Boyd 5.53 lbs.
2nd Place: Carson Howell 3.56 lbs.
3rd Place Isaac England 1.43 lbs.

Lunker: Levi Hicks 3.85 lbs. Largemouth

The next Shoals Youth Bassmasters tournament on their trail is June 11 on Wilson Lake launching from the Lock Six ramp.

Tournaments will begin at 7:00 A.M. and weigh-in will be at 11:00 A.M.
There are three age divisions for youth to compete in:
10 and Under
11 thru 15
16 thru 18

Anglers in each division must have a responsible adult advisor.
The year-end picnic will be held after the last tournament.
