The Shoals Youth Bassmasters fished the club’s fourth tournament on the 2017 schedule. Around two dozen boats carrying one or two youths fished the event. Forecast rain and storms did not appear and the weather was great for the kids. Pickwick begun to get rough at weigh-in time but all boats returned with no problems to the Colbert Park ramp just off the Natchez Trace Parkway.
The 15″ bass limit proved a little difficult for many club member’s but was overcome by several youth anglers.
Payton Davidson and Sam Letson weighed-in 15 lbs. 1 oz. and 14 lbs. 2 oz. respectively in the Ten and Under Division. Luke Mattox brought in a whopping 21 lbs. 9 oz. along with Ty Cobb that weighed-in 13 lbs. 11 oz. in the 11 to 15 Age Division.
Pickwick’s ledges and other underwater features provide good opportunities for great fishing. However, as most anglers know, you got to know where to go.
