Shoals Youth Club Hammers A Hot Pickwick With Almost Eighty Pounds of Bass

The dog days of summer greeted fifty-four members of the Shoals Youth Bassmasters at their Pickwick tournament on June 29. Humidity and heat was the weather for the young anglers. The hearty club members and their boat captains ignored the weather conditions and hammered some nice Pickwick bass.

Club Director Richard Laxson said the morning was pleasant but the heat was on by 9 AM and it was HOT! He added that a lot of bass were caught by the young anglers.

Liam “Bird” Aston lead the 10 and Under Division with 11.35 lbs. That division’s top four places weighed in 34.65 lbs. The four trophy winners in the 11 To 15 Age Division were separated by mere ounces. Carson Rumbaugh edged out the other three places with a bag going 11.74 lbs. Carson kicked his catch with a 6.13 lb. largemouth that also took big fish honors for the event. The 16 To 18 Age Division did not record any fish at the scales. Both division’s catch totaled 79.53 lbs.
