Fifty-four members of the Shoals Youth Bassmasters (SYBM) went head-to-head in three age divisions on Wheeler Lake July 14, 2018. The boats with adult boat captains and youth anglers launched from the First Creek ramp.
Club director Richard Laxson said, “ The morning was somewhat pleasant but turned very hot for the remainder of the tournament day.”
The winning weight in the age brackets reflected a tough and hot day of bass fishing with a total of 55.5625 lbs.s. for the top spots. Total weight often registers in the 90-pound range.
Camden Randall took first in the 10 and under group with a total of 8 lbs.s. 3 oz. First place in the 11 to 15-year-old division went to Hannah Fleeman who weighed-in 5 lbs.s. 8 oz. The 16 to 18-year-olds also had a tough day on Wheeler with a first place weight of 3 lbs.s. brought-in by Chase Runions. The big fish of the club event went to Lane Williamson for a 4 lbs.. 13 oz. largemouth.

The Wheeler Lake tournament was the last event for 2018 on that lake and the third competition in the 2018 season. Three tournaments remain for the year.

1st Place Camden Randall 8 lbs. 3 oz.
2nd Place Spence Lovett 7 lbs. 13 oz.
3rd Place Lane Williamson 7l lbs.s. 12oz.
4th Place Sawyer McGee 6 lbs.s. 6 oz.
11 to 15:
1st Place Hannah Fleeman 5 lbs. 8 oz.
2nd Place Westley Hayes 5 lbs.
3rd Place Hunter Brewer 4 lbs. 13oz.
4th Place Fisher Heard 4 lbs. 4oz.
16-18:
1st Place Chase Runions 3 lbs.
2nd Place Hunter Ratliff 2 lbs. 14 oz.
Lunker:
Lane Williamson 4 lbs. 13 oz. largemouth

Tournaments begin at 7:00 A.M. and weigh-in is 11:00 A.M.
