The Shoals Youth Bassmasters (SYBM) held their final tournament of 2013 August 24 on Pickwick Lake. The youth club had 70 bass anglers participate in the finale. As tradition, the club held a picnic and awards presentations after the weigh-in.
Director Richard Laxson said there was a good crowd at the weigh-in. The University of North Alabama BassTeam and North West Shoals Fishing Teams were on hand as well a many
sponsors. Bobby Risner, BER Baits, and Gander Mountain participated with displays. The Alabama National Guard was even on hand with giveaways.
Laxson said the club had 116 young anglers fish the SYBM trail this year. The club is in its 28th year and is the largest, oldest and most active club in B.A.S.S. The club’s project this year was a food drive for Lauderdale Christian Youth Home as well as cleaning up around the ramps they fished.
