The Shoals Youth Bassmasters went hunting for Wilson Lake bass on August 10 out of the Lock Six ramp. This tournament was the fifth of the six tournaments of the 2024 trail events. Several youths caught some good fish and numerous limits were brought in (limits reduced to three bass due to the heat).
The weather was nice early and made for a good day for fishing. However, club director Richard Laxson noted the surface temps were a little high.
The 10 and Under age group four-place trophy winners brought 22.4 lbs. to the scales with Sadie Keeton contributing a first-place total of 7.23 lbs. Conner Kyle brought in 9.04 lbs. including the tournament lunker, a 4.34 lb. largemouth to take first place in the 11 to 15 age division. Sean Willingham took first place in the 16 to 18 Age Division with his bag of 7.02 lbs.
The total weight of the eleven trophy winners was 66.15 lbs. That works out to 6.01 pounds average weight per angler. Again I remind you the total weight was much higher since only the trophy winner’s weight and not the total weight of all the youth anglers in the tournament.
