Zeke Gossett 2013 FLW/TBF Jr. Alabama State Champion

Zeke Gossett won the 2013 FLW/TBF Junior Alabama State Championship April 20-21 on Lake Mitchell in central Alabama. He had a five fish limit of all spotted bass that weighed 14.33 lbs.

The water in Lake Mitchell was very stained and there was a heavy current on the river. The weather began quite nippy at 37 degrees but warmed to a very tolerable 65 later in the day.

the boat. The champion junior angler targeted a shallow, main river point for his topwater lure. During one retrieve Gossett had two fish hit the topwater and get hooked. Later, he switched to flipping grass with a Strike King Rodent (Bama Bug) on 25 lb. Pro-Elite Fluorocarbon.

The main river weeds he fished were in one to eight feet of water. Zeke caught a number of bass early but he also caught fish throughout the day. He estimated he caught around three limits.

He will now advance and represent the state of Alabama at the National Guard Junior World
Championship in Louisiana in August.
