SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. — Trevor Wilburn and Kagen Hill live 6 1/2 hours from Lay Lake, but they looked right at home on Saturday, winning the Strike King Bassmaster High School Series at Lay Lake presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors.

Finesse OR Not?

I ran across a couple of plastic baits while cleaning out some tackle boxes and I need some help figuring out how to fish them. My first thought was that they would be perfect for finesse fishing on a 6-pound line. Are these craws ideal for “finesse fishing?” What do your opinion?

Alabama Boating Accident Victim’s Body Recovered

A marine-related incident occurred at approximately 11:20 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023. A grandfather and his grandson were fishing in the current below Wilson Dam on Pickwick Lake. Both fishermen were thrown from their 1981,16-foot Bass Tracker fishing boat, which is a small aluminum bass boat-style boat.

This is a boat similar to the boat involved in the accident.
