SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. — Trevor Wilburn and Kagen Hill live 6 1/2 hours from Lay Lake, but they looked right at home on Saturday, winning the Strike King Bassmaster High School Series at Lay Lake presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors.

Alabama Boating Accident Victim’s Body Recovered

A marine-related incident occurred at approximately 11:20 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023. A grandfather and his grandson were fishing in the current below Wilson Dam on Pickwick Lake. Both fishermen were thrown from their 1981,16-foot Bass Tracker fishing boat, which is a small aluminum bass boat-style boat.

Homemade rig tamer

A-Rig and similar multi-lure/wire lures can get out of control when being stored. Here’s our solution. Simply wrap a small cable tie strap around the wires. Slide the cable tie down to store the rig and slide the plastic tie to the weighted head to fish. Simple, cheap, and effective.
