Shoals Youth Take On Pickwick Lake

The Shoals Youth Bassmasters fished their second tournament of the 2026 season. Pickwick Lake was the site on June 13. Fifty-four young bass anglers competed in three age divisions for trophies.

The club members and their adult advisors ignored the heat and humidity to bring in a load of nice bass from Pickwick’s waters.

Club Director Richard Laxson could not be at the event and thanked Ken Laxson, Danny, Sandra, Fisher Heard, Chuck, and Justin Beckman for conducting the tournament.

Several nice bass were brought to the scales from Pickwick. First place in the 10 and Under Division was Lincoln Suratt with 11.22 lbs. of bass. Chapman Ayers brought in 8.41 lbs. for first place in the 11 to 15 Age Group, and Jake Boyd, 16 to 18 Age Group, took first with no challenger to his 2.31 lbs.

2nd Place — Brock Jewel 8.12 lbs.
3rd Place — Billy Gray 6.75 lbs.
4th Place — Carter McConnell 5.99 lbs.
11 to 15 Age Total — 29.27 lbs.

16 to 18 Age
1st Place — Jake Boyd 2.34 lbs.
16 to 18 Age Total — 2.34 lbs.
TOTAL DIVISION WEIGHT — 72.06 lbs.

Tournaments will begin at 7:00 A.M., and weigh-in will be at 11:00 A.M.
There are three divisions:
1. 10 and Under
2. 11 through 15
3. 16 through 18
Anglers in each division must have a responsible adult advisor.

The year-end picnic will be held after the last tournament.
You must be a member before the August 29 tournament.
