Youth Winners Bring In Over 100 Pounds of Bass From Wilson Lake

Fifty-eight young bass anglers in the Shoals Youth Bassmasters anxiously awaited take-off time on Saturday, July 18th. Wilson Lake was the contest waters, and they launched from the Lock Six ramp with their adult boat captains, whom most called “Dad.”

Club director Richard Laxson said, “The weather was great for fishing earlier in the day. The conditions changed as the heat rolled in at weigh-in time. The feisty young anglers brought in a good number of 3-fish limits (reduced from 5 due to summer heat) and an equal mix of largemouth and smallmouth bass”

Photos from the weigh-in proved higher temperatures did not keep the tournament anglers from boating a bunch of good-sized bass.
