The University of Montevallo finished the year in the 2024-25 Bass Pro Shops School of the Year, presented by Abu Garcia, ranked number one, with a total of 40,575 points.

It’s safe to say that Kentucky Lake is back, or at least on a serious upswing. As many expected, Lowrance Stage 5 Presented by Mercury on Kentucky Lake and neighboring Lake Barkley turned into a ledge fishing bonanza with largemouth and smallmouth bass firmly in their summer patterns.

Healthy Rivers Help Creatures, People, and Power Production
Steam, turbines, pumps, and rushing water – these are essential pieces of the Tennessee Valley Authority’s power production. Also important? Little fish. Not to mention big fish, mussels, snails, and the tiniest of aquatic insects that live in the Tennessee River system.

Fifty-three young anglers showed up ready to fish the first Shoals Youth Bassmasters tournament of the 2025 season. The young anglers showed out with the event trophy qualifiers weighing in 96.47 pounds of bass.

About 12 years ago, the Tennessee Valley Authority aquatic plant management team noticed a new, unusual species spreading at Guntersville and Nickajack reservoirs. The non-native eelgrass was overtaking the native plant habitat.
The Alabama Bass Trail Tournament Series will enter its thirteenth season next year as the state’s premier weekend tournament trail for amateur bass anglers with an 11-event schedule offering more than $750,000 in prizes and awards.
